Tulipa ‘Ice Cream Strawberry’ has Peony shaped deep red flowers with greenish marking at the base, looks like a bowl with ice.
Double Late Tulips have double flowers which resemble Peony flowers and are great for planting in beds and forcing, late blooming. The big flowers are particularly sensitive to severe rain and wind, therefore they should be planted in a protected area.
Tulips are hardy and like other bulbs, easy to grow in well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. The blooms last longer in partial shade locations. The tulips can be planted in Fall when the soil temperature falls below 55F to make sure they root well. The best planting time is when the night time temperatures are between 40-50F. For best results, tulips need approximate 12 weeks of temperatures below 50F.
